I majored in art during my first pass at college, but never took photography because a 35mm camera was an unattainable luxury for a work-study employed hippie. So my photography is self-taught. Eventually I grew tired of simply pointing my camera at things and hoping to capture something personal, something different. Then I discovered Photoshop.Again, self-taught and far from being a power-user, I render my pictures in Photoshop to give them a more impressionist feel that reflects my vision of the world.I like photographing old things, things with character, odd details, plants and fungus. No grandiose landscapes for me; I’ll be down on my belly trying to capture the soul of a weird cactus when everyone else is clicking away at the Grand Canyon.
